Tygers of Pan Tang: Crazy Nights Proposed original pencil drawing
A rare opportunity to purchase early original Matthews art. This preliminary design for the album Crazy Nights by the Tygers of Pan Tang was eventually superseded by a less exaggerated version of the tiger and a couple of tiger moth biplanes. Matthews actually prefers this version, not surprising, as he was leaning more towards surrealism at that time. There is also a political comment being made here, as the city banker styled individuals, on their saucers, are wearing dunces caps associated with stupidity.
Note the spelling "tigers" - Matthews did not realise at the time, that the band's spelling of their name was "tygers".
