DESCRIPTION
In 2020 Matthews received a request from Magnum's Tony Clarkin for an image that would complement the upcoming release of their compilation album 'Dance of the Black Tattoo'. Rodney had the very image gathering dust and waiting for a purpose (originally commissioned as a book illustration, but not used!) It's a sort of Gandalf and the Balrog scene, but without the fire, set in a subterranean city carved from solid rock.
