A signed original pencil drawing on tracing paper from 1981. Titled 'Encore at the End of Time', this artwork preceded the colour version that appeared in the short story Elric at the End of Time, a collaboration between Matthews and Moorcock. The alien musicians is Matthews' fantasy take on the band Hawkwind.
Authentication will be provided by an accompanying certificate of authenticity; "genuine original artwork" stamped, dated and hand-signed by Rodney Matthews.
Visible paper size measures 413 (h) x 563 (w) mm. Upon purchase, artwork will be mounted and backed increasing the size of the finished product.
Some visible foxing (small yellow spots), which has now been treated. A single crease is visible across the image. The condition is reflected in the price.
