I feel this is a special interpretation of a very scary hobbit story moment. Obviously exquisite detail as with all Rodney Matthews art - and captures the intensity and suspenseful quality while still being pleasant to look at somehow. An intriguing juxtaposition given we are looking at a huge spider who wants to eat our hero Bilbo and all the dwarves. One knows all the other spiders are just out of our line of sight and waiting to pounce. Bilbo is so brave. Love this so much.
